Muideen Kolade

Muideen Kolade, known as Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom, is a seasoned editor, writer and arts administrator who has moderated some notable literary programmes including the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize (NSPP), Festival Poetry Calabar and PIN Chapbook Series. He was the Chief Operating Officer of Words Rhymes & Rhythm Limited (Authorpedia Publishers) and Executive Secretary of Poets in Nigeria (PIN) Initiative.

Kolade holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan where he served as the founding editor of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS) Review (2016). His literary works have appeared in Malimbe Magazine, ANA Review, Twist of Fate, The Year of the Poet, Female First, The Guardian Newspaper, Pulse NG and elsewhere. As a publishing expert, Kolade has worked on high-profile publications from several publishing houses including Premium Times Books, Pan-African University Press and Bowen University Press.

Kolade has also served as the production editor of Carleton University’s Institute of African Studies (IAS) Newsletter and the Nokoko Journal. He has edited acclaimed titles including Osinbajo Strides: Defining Moments of an Innovative Leader, Dazzling Mirage, 30: Three Decades of the New Nigerian Cinema and Imperatives of the Nigerian Revolution, amongst others. He was a panellist at the 2022 Lagos Book and Art Festival Colloquium themed Machines, Now & Forever, or Robotics and the Nigerian Survival.

Kolade is the author of three poetry collections: The Light Bearer (2013), Punctured Silence (2014) and When Silence Fell (forthcoming).
