Ifeyinwa V. Awagu was the second Director of the Institute of Humanities (IOH) at the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos from 2016 to 2022. Her tenure birthed some initiatives, like the IOH Conference on Human Dignity, the IOH Scholars Research Workshop and other laudable endeavours that define the Institute. She holds an MSc in Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos and PhD in Media and Communication in view. She earned an MSc in Psychology, University of Lagos; LL. B from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus and BL from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos; B.A (Ed) English from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is an alumnus of the Leadership Institute, Washington, DC; and Character.org National Forum, Washington, DC. Her memberships include West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA), the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria). She has been actively involved in the accomplishments of FIDA Nigeria through its Lagos State Branch since 1999, as a member and executive officer. She was the Secretary of FIDA Nigeria, Lagos State Branch and founding Chairperson, FIDA Nigeria, Epe Branch. Her interest in human development, family, women and children were deepened by her participation and paper presentation in many local and international conferences. She earned Papal recognition by Pope Francis and had audience with him at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in 2015. Ifeyinwa Awagu joined the Institute of Humanities, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos in 2015 as a faculty member. She teaches general studies courses and some courses in media and communication. She served as a member of the Yemisi Shylon Museum Supervisory Council from inception to 2023. She is passionate about human development through women and youth leadership, and strengthening traditional families.
Prior to joining PAU Ifeyinwa Awagu worked at the law firm of Handel Okoli & Associates and had a stint on private practice for a few years under I. V. Awagu & Co. Beyond professional engagements, she volunteers as a counsellor to individuals and families on family, marriage and parenting matters. In this regard, she dedicated six memorable years at Lagoon School, Lagos on invitation to serve the community of students, parents and staff of the school from 2008 to 2014.
