Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) Press editor, Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom, was a member of the report team for Publishing Futures: A Study of the Publishing Landscapes in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe. This important research project was commissioned by the British Council, UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
Kolade featured alongside Tolu Ogunlesi, a Nigerian journalist and former special assistant on digital/new media to the president; and Ibikun Omojola, a certified copyeditor, in the editorial section of the report team headed by Dr Anietie Isong, researcher and winner of Mckitterick Prize (2018).
Publishing Futures, launched on October 14, is an in-depth study of the trade publishing and literature sectors in the following Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe. It offers market insights into the sectors in each country, with a particular focus on recent developments and the creative individuals working within these fields.
Head of PAU Press and Senior Lecturer at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Dr Nwachukwu Egbunike, believes the key involvement of the Press’ editorial lead in the project bolsters the aim of the University to promote the intersection of theory and practice in Africa’s knowledge and creative industries..
“I am delighted that a member of my team participated in this groundbreaking research project as it reflects our commitment in driving Pan-Atlantic University’s strategic goal in two areas: ‘Teaching & Learning’ and ‘Scholarship & Research’,” Dr Egbunike said.
