Pan-Atlantic University Press is delighted to announce that Admissions & Standards Committee of the Association of University Presses (AUPresses) has approved its application to join the association as an affiliate member.
This decision, reached at a recent meeting in the New York headquarters of AUPresses, was communicated via an email by Peter M. Berkery, Executive Director of AUPresses, to Dr. Nwachukwu Egbunike, Head of PAU Press on March 4, 2025.
Pan-Atlantic University Press is the first university press in West Africa and third in Africa—after The American University in Cairo, Egypt and Witt University Press, South Africa—to join this global scholarly publishing association.
Dr Egbunike reiterated the Press’s commitment to forming partnerships and joining associations focused on achieving scholarly excellence in different fields of learning. “This is an exhilarating development and a reassurance that our efforts towards publishing books and journals of the highest academic standards haven’t gone unnoticed.”
AUPresses is a community of publishers from over 160 elite university presses across the world. The mission of AUPresses is “to ensure academic excellence and cultivate knowledge”. AUPresses members commit themselves to “the highest caliber of research-based scholarship” through “academic excellence and in cultivating and disseminating knowledge.”
Since Professor Enase Okonedo, third Vice Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, restructured Pan-Atlantic University Press in 2022, it has grown from modest origins into an integral part of the university, advancing the scholarly conversation in many disciplines with a wide range of books and journals.
