CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: PAU PRESS ESSAY CONTEST (PEC) 2024

Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) Press is pleased to announce the call for submissions for the maiden edition of the PAU Press Essay Contest (PEC) themed Digital Youth & Social Movements.

This initiative aims to create a viable avenue for Nigerian youth to engage in topical social issues while promoting literary excellence.

PEC 2024 derives its theme from a book titled Digital Youth and Social Movements by Dr Nwachukwu Egbunike, Head of PAU Press and Senior Lecturer, School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University.

Entrants are expected to explore the importance of the Internet (digital platforms) to the rise of youth-led social movements, including #EndSARS (2020) and #Obidient (2023).

REWARD

1^st Prize: N50,000

2^nd Prize: N30,000

3^rd Prize: N20,000

The top 30 entrants will each receive a complimentary copy of Digital Youth & Social Movements and certificates of excellence.

ELIGIBILITY

Nigerian youth between the ages of 16 and 30 are eligible to participate in the contest.

GUIDELINES

• Entrants are expected to submit a 250-word essay addressing the theme: Digital Youth & Social Movements.
• Entrants must give a unique title to their works.
• Essays must be the original intellectual property of the entrants.
• An entrant is entitled to a single entry of 250 words maximum.
• Entering the contest gives PAU Press the automatic right to make use of the entries as deemed appropriate.
• Entries must be written in English. Native terms must be translated into English as footnotes.
• Include your name, age, location and contact details (phone number, email address) atop your essay.
• Submissions should be sent to submissionstopaupress@pau.edu.ng with PEC 2024 as the subject of the mail.
